Lombok — The grief that has engulfed Flores, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), following the magnitude 7.7 earthquake on Saturday, 15 August 2026, has also touched the hearts of communities on the neighbouring island. Through a humanitarian movement, PT Gapura Angkasa has demonstrated that the geographical proximity between West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) and East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) represents more than just closeness on a map; it reflects a strong bond of empathy and solidarity.

As fellow communities within the Nusa Tenggara island chain, Lombok understands the importance of recovery in the aftermath of a disaster. The hundreds of kilometres separating Lombok and Flores were bridged through a swift and tangible humanitarian response under the “Gapura Peduli” initiative. The movement represents a spirit of collaboration and solidarity without borders, supporting communities as they navigate challenging times and begin their recovery.

As part of the emergency response, PT Gapura Angkasa moved swiftly to deliver essential logistical assistance to communities affected in NTT. Basic necessities, including food supplies, clean water and emergency equipment, were packed and distributed through the Labuan Bajo Forward Post (Posko Aju 1). This prompt response was aimed at ensuring that assistance could reach families facing the challenges of recovery as quickly as possible.

Through this humanitarian initiative, Gapura Angkasa is committed not only to serving as an aviation ground handling provider, but also to playing a meaningful role in supporting communities when they need it most. Support and collaboration from various locations, including Lombok, are expected to contribute to the recovery of infrastructure and the emotional well-being of communities in Flores.
